Other: Robert Leaves...
So Robert had to head home today. Which upsets me a lot. I don't get to see him much and I really love it when he does come, which is about once a month. We had a good week overall. Since classes had started for me, I had to go to them, but Robert went with me. Since one of them is a lecture class, Biochemistry, it has a large number of people and anyone can come, including me. I'm not actually taking the Biochem class, but auditing it instead. One of the first few classes I have to take in Pharmacy school is a Biochem (not the same one, but similar) and I struggle with the chems. My other class, which I am actually taking, is Orgo 2. We need to take a bus to get there and he can only sit in on the class with me, not the lab. But outside of that, we studied at the library together, me studying Orgo and him studying for his FE exam because he's going to be a professional engineer, watching movies, took walks, and went out for food.

Other: Robert Visits!
So Robert is visiting me from Sunday through Wednesday. He would have visited earlier, when I had the week off, but he had to work. He came at about 9:30AM and we went out for breakfast to Steak N' Shake. Originally we were gonna go to IHOP, but they were packed. Same thing happened last time he visited. I really do miss Robert. I'm thankful he only lives about 3 hours away from me, as opposed to something like across an ocean. But it really is hard on me that he's not around at all.

Other: Krispy Kreme Donuts
Confession time: I have never had a freshly Krispy Kreme donut before. I've had them at other times (not fresh made) and they're ok, but people keep telling me how amazing the "hot light" ones are. So I was walking past the shop today and the hot light was on, so I thought 'Why not?' I bought one (partially because donuts are not on my fav food list) and bit in. And I must say, it definitely lived up to the hype. Probably not quite the same hype that one of my friends described when he nearly got into a car accident all because he saw the hot light on and veered through traffic to get them, but definitely a lot of it. I'll keep a lookout for them and will probably buy another next time the hot light is on.

Other: Buying Mother's Day Gifts
I'm posting this up just because I know that neither my mother or my grandmother will find out about them ahead of time from this blog. But anyways, I found this pair of absolutely adorable enameled Faberge eggs for Mother's Day and I bought my grandmother and my mother one each, different from each other of course. Why this? Because cut flowers die too soon and cost about as much as the eggs, my mother has almost every piece of jewelry manufactured, buying clothing online is a waste of time, and my grandmother loves decorative pieces. In addition, my family loves things that remind them of Russia. Not the Soviet Union though. So do I need a better reason?
I bought my grandmother's no problem, but the problem came with the egg for my mother (much like my relationship with her). The card I had used on my grandmother's egg was drained, so I got out my other card, but it got declined. I looked into the account and I had enough money, but it just would not let the purchase through. So I gave up...kind of.
A smart solution would have been to go to transfer money. Electronic would have taken too long, but there was also the problem that the bank of one of the cards is not anywhere near the area I'm in. So after thinking for an hour, I looked up if that really was the case. The computer said there was an ATM within walking distance. When I got there, it wasn't of that bank, but it did the withdraw with no charge. I then walked all the way to the ATM of the other card's bank and put the money in. Then all the way home. And these aren't small distances either, though they aren't something tedious because there is stuff to look at on the way there.
So I got back and finally managed to pay for my mother's gift. I hope she and my grandmother like my gifts. And now I'm pretty much broke and starving. Crap...

College: Spring Grades
So Spring grades just came out a few minutes ago and I was disappointed. This semester I had four classes plus a lab. I got an A in Intro to Russian 2. That makes sense since I am Russian by heritage, but before you go all judging me, I need to clarify that before the class, I could not read or write, and that I was at risk of a lower grade just cause I suck at spelling. Too many vowel-like sounds... I got a B- in microbiology, which sucks cause I missed a solid B by 2 points. But oh well. I got an A in the lab though, so that makes me happy. Then comes organic chemistry, which I dropped, giving me a W. Honestly, that class makes me feel like such an idiot. And now I'm stuck retaking the class again. And last was Physiological Psychology. Honestly, that whole class was stupid. The professor couldn't lecture and she messed up her exams. I'm not gonna say how I did, but way to screw over my GPA, lady.

College: Library
I went down to the library today. Since the textbook that I need is still being sent to me, I figured I could borrow one from the library. The catalog said that one was available, one was checked out, and three were on course reserve. Since you can only use course reserve inside the library and only for 2 hours, this is pretty much useless to me. But when I went to the appropriate stack, I could not find it. I could not even find the ones on course reserve. The only book I could find was a fourth edition from 1999. The one I needed though was the sixth edition from 2006. Going to the front desk for help wasn't much help: the people at the front desk were not able to help because they thought that they had taken all five copies of the book off course reserve and that the books should all be on their proper shelf. Of course I told them that wasn't the case. They're now either gonna say forget it and declare them lost or actually go to the trouble of tracking them down. Unfortunately for them, my own textbook would come by then and I would have no need for theirs.
Other: Waking Up Early
It's been a while since I've gotten up so early. I guess 9:00 AM isn't really that early, but it is for me. Usually it's impossible for me to wake up by noon. I've even been known to sleep till 3:00 PM. I guess going to bed around midnight is a good thing, but not something I can do often because I usually have stuff that needs to get done by the next day and I didn't have time to do it. I know that one day I'll be some frump that goes to bed early and wakes up early the next day, but I'm not there yet (thank God!).

Other: Computer Mouse
So my computer is getting old...the mouse stopped working. Not completely, but the left mouse key is completely intermittent, so I told the computer to switch mouse keys for the time being. So now I can barely right click because their functions are swapped. And since this is a laptop mouse, I can't actually get it switched unless I want to pay a lot of money. So I have to find an extra computer mouse to externally attach. Oh bother... It'll probably be time to switch to a new laptop soon because my laptop is now two and a half years old. I really liked it when it was new, but it's getting old and it's not as awesome as it once was.

Other: Speech Recognition
So I've been using Microsoft Speech Recognition to write my blog and it has been interesting. Sometimes it understands me and sometimes it makes blog big mess. I am using it to write this very blog! I know that I can type faster than it, but it is fun to mess around with it. It's not amazing, but its cool because 10 years ago, this technology was almost unthinkable. Of course, it does have many screw-ups. Here's a youtube video showing how bad it can be! Video courtesy of Robert (thanks!) LOL
Other: Thunderstorm
Right now, there's this really strong thunderstorm outside. Comes complete with lots of rain, almost flooding rain, really bright lightning, and really loud thunder. I got startled by one because I was outside at the moment and it was close to me, making it extra loud. I've never been one to fear thunderstorms. I always enjoyed other people being afraid of them. This one also woke me up, as I was taking an extended nap...rain also makes me sleepy, tho thunderstorms wake me up.
College: Organic Chemistry
I went down to the community college. I needed to speak with my organic professor for the summer. I was a bit nervous. I heard a lot of things about her, some good and some bad. When I met her, she seemed nice. I'm a bit nervous about taking organic chemistry 2. If I don't gets a B, I don't get into pharmacy school. That's a lot of pressure. I have taken this class before, but I'd nearly failed the first time and was getting a C the second time. I feel so embarrassed that this is my third time. It makes me feel a failure. Robert tries to comfort me, but it doesn't mean as much because he's good at everything and I'm not. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop though because I can't stand failure. I'm not a quitter and I don't take no for an answer.
Movies: Sherlock Holmes
So I watched Sherlock Holmes today for the first time with a few housemates...it was pretty amusing. What annoyed me was the fact that they had to make him more epic than he had been. Not only was he smart as a whip, but he was a master at kicking ass too??? Seriously, he was already too epic to need the badass angle.
I must say tho, I did very much enjoy the plotline. It kept you wondering stuff. Like how Blackwood survived the hanging and how he got that guys gun to set him completely on fire. Of course, it was all explained at the end, but that's what kept you glued to your chair.
Rachel McAdams' character was truly an interesting one. She was fierce, cunning, and beautiful. What more could you ask for? I guess being on the good side is probably asking too much. I think I found it hysterical when she handcuffed Sherlock to the bed, naked, and placed the key in a very strategic place. But then again, she had that done to her at the end. LOL
I would say that was a very good film, though its not a favorite.

Introduction
I've had a number of blogs before. What can I say? None were successful. :( Looking back on my previous blogs, it disheartened me a little. But since I'll have a bit of time (bus time no less), I figured giving blogging another chance couldn't hurt.
Let's start w/ an introduction:
Let's start w/ an introduction:
- My name is Jackie. It's a nickname for Jacqueline (spelt the proper way thankyouverymuch)
- I'm 20 years old. I'll be 21 on August 1st (woot!)
- I'm in college (not gonna say where). I get to live on my own.
- I was born in Brooklyn, New York, but I moved away before my tenth birthday (not gonna say to where).
- I have a younger brother. He's twelve.
- I like cats. My brother likes dogs. My parents like to spoil my brother. Guess what kind of pet my family has...
- I like to stay up late and sleep in in the mornings.
- I adore chocolate. It's my absolute favorite food, though I have felt sick from eating too much of it before.
- I'm in a relationship with an amazing person. His name is Robert. Although we've been together for under a year, I can say that I love him very much.
- I hope to become a pharmacist. I got accepted to pharmacy school this year. :D
- Why am I blogging again after so many failures? Cause I want a fairly successful blog...that and I can't stand failure. Plus I'm doing it to remember things in my life because I can never seem to remember much of anything.
